Sol d’Oro Nothern Hemisphere is a Competition organised by Veronafiere. Since 2002, the Competition is a preview of Sol&Agrifood – the International of Quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Quality Agro-Food Show.
The Competition aims to highlight the best olive oil production, mainly in the Mediterranean basin
The jury is made up of international panellists under the guidance of Marino Giorgetti, Panel Leader of Sol d'Oro since its first edition in 2002. The Competition has three categories: Extra Virgin, Single Variety and Organic.

The Competition is open to all Italian and international extra virgin olive oils produced and marketers by agricultural companies and olive mills which must send a regular form on condition that they produce a minimum quantity of 1,500 litres, or equivalent production, for each olive oil entered in the Competition.
The companies that produce and market olive oils in quantities ranging from 500 to 1,499 litres can sign up in “Absolute Beginners” category.
This edition of the competition also includes extra virgin olive oils produced by companies in Southern Hemisphere countries (in particular Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa and Uruguay) which took part in the last edition of the International Sol d’Oro Southern Hemisphere Competition.

Sol d'Oro is the most important blind tasting olive oil competition in the world.
Since 2002, the Competition aims to highlight the best olive oil production, promoting it among consumers and operators, presenting to the public at large typical extra virgin olive oils and their variety, especially in relation to geographical origin, and stimulate the efforts of companies towards continuous quality improvement of their products.
The blind tasting procedure and the long history of Sol d’Oro transforming the Competition in high quality brand, appreciated in all over the world.
Furthermore, the winning olive oils are involved in exclusive promotional activities during the year. They also benefit of special rate to enjoy on the next Sol&Agrifood edition.
The final score for each sample is the arithmetic average of the score cards envisaged in the method adopted. The assessment method is detailed on specific data cards developed by the Technical Manager of the “International Sol d’Oro Northern Hemisphere 2020 Competition”.
To ensure appropriate confidentiality for Companies taking part, only the list of award-winning extra virgin olive oils is published and not the list of Companies taking part.
The first three extra virgin olive oils obtaining the best scores in each of the three categories will respectively be awarded:
In the Extra Virgin Olive Oil category, since it is divided in turn into three sections, awards will be made in each of the three sections.
It is necessary fill the following Application Form.
Each company can present a maximum of three different olive oils.
The sample must be sent until the deadline specified in the Regulation.
