Sol&Agrifood: the wide-ranging and interactive trade fair becomes a service platform 365 days a year

Verona, 20 January 2020 - 2020 will see a great many new items at Sol&Agrifood as it expands from a trade fair event to become the most complete service platform supporting leading SMEs in Italy's food, extra virgin olive oil and craft beer sectors. By turning initiatives developed over twenty years of experience into a system, Veronafiere's International Exhibition of Quality Agro-Foods now schedules a series of promotion and training events during the year throughout Italy as well as abroad with an emphasis on business, alongside competitions dedicated to extra virgin olive oil and food. The upgraded event site also allows customised management of operators to help improve the quality of services.

Calendar of Appointments Thursday January 30: Fieragricola - during the conference on beer barley and the related supply chain - will present the new Xcellence Beers show that expands the craft beer area at Sol&Agrifood. 5-10 February: Veronafiere will host the Sol d'Oro Northern Hemisphere Competition followed Monday 10-Tuesday 11 February by Evoo Days, when collection of data for the survey involving companies currently investigating olive oil tourism will end. 19-22 April: Sol&Agrifood will return to Veronafiere alongside Vinitaly and Enolitech and once again welcomes the Golosario competition. 19-20 May: trip to Japan for Sol Int'l with the winners of the Sol d'Oro Northern Hemisphere Competition and companies keen to export extra virgin olive oil at Olive Oil Kansai in Osaka. September welcomes the Sol d'Oro Southern Hemisphere Competition, followed 5-7 November by the Sol Int'l Evo Oil Show at the International Wine & Spirit Fair in Hong Kong.

Xcellent Beers: the new craft beer show. Sol&Agrifood broadens the horizons of its area dedicated to national and international craft beers by hosting the new Xcellent Beers show. The innovative format is based on tastings, training and b2b events involving incoming foreign operators to promote business by highlighting an increasingly successful product on markets all over the world. The official presentation of Xcellent Beers is scheduled for Thursday 30 January during Fieragricola (11.30 - Mantegna Meeting Room) as part of the "Beer barley and supply chain" conference, which will end with a tasting of Italian craft beers.

Sol d'Oro comes of age. The Northern Hemisphere edition of the Sol d'Oro Competition is scheduled at Veronafiere 5-10 February. The international competition this year celebrates its 18th edition. It has by now consolidated its role as an event promoting improvements on production, knowledge and marketing of quality extra virgin olive oils around the world. This result has been achieved obtained thanks to the authority and expertise of the judging panel, the decision to be the only international blind tasting competition and all the initiatives dedicated to winners during Sol&Agrifood in Verona as well as several of the most important consumer markets, whereby Sol d'Oro becomes a quality certification mark widely acknowledged by international buyers.

Strategies for olive pest control without dimethoate at Evoo Days. Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 February: Evoo Days, the training and networking event for operators in the olive oil sector, returns with a new format after two years. The two-day formula - the first day dedicated to technical-agronomic updating, the second to marketing and communication - is now more streamlined, with opportunities for in-depth analysis "from the field to the sales shelf" in Italy and abroad involving by top international speakers alternating with occasions when experts will be on hand for direct meetings with participants. The first item on the programme concerning olive fly pest control following the ban on the use of dimethoate, which will come into force in July, is of major current interest. The debate will then focus on oil mill technologies, oil labelling for markets in China and the Arab world and strategies designed to increase direct in-company sales.

Online survey into olive oil tourism through the eyes of producers - Interest in local area extra virgin olive oils is growing in Italy and abroad. This market niche involves well-informed consumers who are willing to spend and keen to find out more as regards the origin of products, even by visiting production areas. Sol&Agrifood promoted a survey among producers to capture a snapshot of how companies are already responding to or promoting this new trend in oil tourism. The results will be presented during Sol&Agrifood in April and published on the website of Sol&Agrifood.

A new look for Sol&Agrifood. 2020 sees internal restyling of the agro-food exhibition scheduled 19-22 April. The three areas of the trade fair - extra virgin olive oil, food and craft beers - will now be distinctly characterised in graphic terms to highlight the offering by exhibitors even more clearly. During the show, the calendar of events will be enhanced by new promotional occasions as well as and initiatives promoting business contacts. Promotion targeting incoming specialist buyers from abroad has also been upgraded, who will have the chance to glean interesting ideas from the list of winners of the new edition of the Golosario Prize scheduled during the trade fair itself.

Sol Int'l for worldwide promotion. Group attendance at international events in Japan in Osaka 19-20 May (Olive Oil Kansai) and Hong Kong 5-7 November (Sol Int'l Evo Oil Show at the International Wine & Spirit Fair) means that Sol&Agrifood also offers a preferential showcase for producers and winners of Sol d'Oro medals thanks to guided tastings, educational events focusing on extra virgin olive oil and cooking shows.
