The award ceremony was held on Sunday 22 November with a combined attended and digital event for the olive oils winning the Sol d'Oro Northern Hemisphere International Competition. The live stream from Veronafiere broadcast on YouTube involved President Maurizio Danese and links with Marino Giorgetti, the competition panel leader, and the award winners.
"This meeting is the outcome of an astonishing organizational effort that was made necessary following the Decree issued at the end of October that banned all attended exhibition activities. Nevertheless, we were still determined to recreate an important occasion to be shared with the entire community of producers and operators working towards the continual improvement of quality extra virgin olive oil," said the President of Veronafiere in his opening speech.
The award ceremony was also an opportunity to present Veronafiere's new initiatives as regards business promotion of the olive oils taking Sol d'Oro awards around the world, especially on markets in China and Japan.
“By way of example, the data cards describing the award-winning oils were also translated for the first time this year into Chinese and Japanese, as well as Italian and English. This is a full-scale passport that companies can use specifically to make themselves better known in China and Japan, two leading and highly demanding extra virgin olive oil importing countries where Veronafiere is active with Sol&Agrifood and Sol International initiatives during the Vinitaly Road Shows in China and the Osaka trade fair in Japan,” Danese explained.
The meeting closed with the launch of the 2021 edition of the International Olive Oil Competition and Evoo Days, the only business forum in the olive oil value chain.
The appointment with the 19th Sol d'Oro Northern Hemisphere Competition is scheduled 14-19 April 2021. Registrations will open soon. Go to the Competition page for more information.
