Every year, during Sol&Agrifood, extra virgin olive oils earning medals in the Sol d'Oro international competition are the protagonists of guided and walk-around tastings specifically for international buyers.
These activities are an important aspect of the competition in terms not only of commercial promotion but also because appreciating the special features of any olive oil requires knowing how to use and pair it correctly in the kitchen.
For this reason, the gold medal winning olive oils in each category - light fruity, medium fruity, intense fruity, single variety and organic - are interpreted during cooking shows at Sol&Agrifood through recipes specially prepared by Chef Giorgione, the testimonial of the International Exhibition of Quality Agro-Foods.
This is the only way that international operators, mostly from countries that do not produce olive oil and therefore lacking a culture of using extra virgin olive oil in cuisine, can understand the differences between one olive oil and another and become informed ambassadors on their markets.
